A small balcony, a narrow patio, or a compact terrace with limited square footage doesn't mean giving up on a proper outdoor setup. It just means the furniture has to work harder. Chicory's outdoor furniture for small spaces is built around a modular system that adapts to tight layouts, awkward dimensions, and the kind of urban living where every inch counts.
Whether it's a city apartment balcony or a cozy ground-floor patio, the right small space outdoor furniture can turn an underused corner into somewhere people actually want to spend time.
Why Modular Is the Answer for Small Outdoor Spaces
Most outdoor furniture is designed with a sprawling backyard in mind. Fixed sectionals, oversized dining sets, bulky frames that take up floor space before anyone even sits down. For compact spaces, that approach simply doesn't work.
Chicory's collection is built differently. Each piece functions as a standalone module, which means a setup can start small, with a single chair or a compact two-seater, and expand over time as the space or need grows. Modules connect in any direction, ottomans can extend a sofa into a daybed, and corner pieces make use of awkward angles that would otherwise go to waste. It's patio furniture for small spaces that works with the layout rather than against it.
The Washable Collection: Compact, Lightweight, and Easy to Move
The Chicory x Anabei Washable Collection is purpose-built for flexible outdoor living. Each module ships in lightweight, easy-to-carry boxes that fit through any door, which matters a lot when navigating a narrow apartment hallway or a tight elevator. Setup is straightforward: arrange the frame, slip on the frame duvet, and dress it with the performance covers.
The patent-pending modules are collapsible, taking up minimal space for storage during off-seasons. For small balcony furniture that needs to disappear when not in use or make room for other activities, that kind of flexibility is genuinely useful.
The slim, powder-coated steel frames are visually light as well, which helps a compact outdoor area feel open rather than cramped. The structure doesn't dominate the space; it just provides excellent seating within it.
Start Small, Expand When Ready
One of the most practical things about compact outdoor furniture from Chicory is that there's no pressure to buy a full set upfront. A single end chair stands on its own as a polished, complete piece. A two-seater works perfectly for a narrow balcony. When the space changes or the budget allows, an ottoman, an armless chair, or a corner piece can be added, and the whole setup reconfigures seamlessly.
For people who move often, this also means the furniture moves with them. The same modules that worked on a studio balcony can adapt to a larger patio in a new place without buying anything new.
Weatherproof Fabrics That Hold Up in Any Outdoor Condition
Small balcony furniture takes weather exposure seriously, often with no roof overhead and no easy way to cover everything quickly before a storm. Chicory's performance fabrics are built for exactly that.
On the Washable Collection, performance fabrics are UV fade-proof, liquid and stain-resistant, and fully machine washable. All fabric options are engineered with nontoxic, PFC/PFAS-free water-resistant technology. The covers are removable, and even the patent-pending frame duvet can be washed. The powder-coated steel frame and stainless steel hardware resist rust and corrosion through extended exposure to rain, humidity, and sun.
This collection holds up season after season without the usual weathering, fading, or rust that comes with cheaper alternatives.
Comfort That Doesn't Compromise for Size
Compact doesn't have to mean uncomfortable. All of Chicory’s seat cushions feature a blend of low and high density, high resilience CertiPUR-US foam. The cushions are deep and generous; the kind that invite genuine lounging rather than just sitting upright.
For anyone who has settled for thin, rigid cushions on previous small patio furniture, the difference is noticeable.
Built with Sustainability in Mind
Choosing outdoor furniture for small spaces that truly lasts means fewer replacements and less waste over time. The Washable Collection is designed with longevity at its core, using durable, thoughtfully engineered materials that are not only built to perform, but can also be recycled and reused at the end of their lifecycle.
All fabrics are OEKO-TEX® certified, PFC and PFAS-free, and produced using processes that prioritize reduced environmental impact, including recycled water systems. Every component is selected with the intent to minimize waste without compromising performance or comfort.
Shipping is carbon neutral, with all orders delivered via parcel in packaging specifically designed to reduce excess material and waste. The result is outdoor furniture that is not only made to handle real life, but made with the future in mind.
